On March 24th, the Joint Legislative Audit Committee of the California State Legislature gave the thumbs up to a proposal from state senator Sabrina Cervantes (D-Riverside) to have the California State Auditor investigate the activities, funding streams and data flows of California’s five fusion centers (located in San Francisco, Sacramento, Orange County, Los Angeles and San Diego). California’s audit, (which will get underway later this year) will be the first audit by a state of fusion center operations. Similar efforts in the states of Maine and Massachusetts did not go forward.
